Hello, Sir/Madam.  

As the Chinese saying goes “ We are thrilled to have friends from afar”.That’s how I feel right now. Pls allow me to extend my warmest welcome to all the new and prospective students on behalf of all the staff at international college.

Founded in 1958, Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry university, Zhejiang A & F university for short, is a comprehensive universtiy covering 9 areas namely agriculture, engineering, management, literature, science, law, medincine and art. We offer 59 undergraduate programs and 45 graduate programs and one Phd program. In term of rating, we rank top ten universities in Zhejiang Province and We are in the upper middle among all the Chinese universities. We started to have international students in 1999. So far it has been 15year. International college is home to three centers and two brance offices namely the administrative center, you can also call it the dean’s office, academic center and center for development and service, which overlaps with international student office. In addition, we also have two branch offices in Hangzhou given that we are in the outskirt of Hangzhou. Some students want to study in the downtown area. International college boast of 23 strong facutly including 13 full-time teachers. Most of them studied or worked abroad. Morover, they are very rich in experience. In additon, we have many part-time teachers as well. They may work at other schools under the university. International college has three major functions namely international students education, Study-abroad education for Chinese students and providing language and vocational trainings for Chinese students and for people outside the univesity. In term of international education, besides the non-degree Chinese program, we also offer degree program in Chinese as scecond language. At the same time, all the degree programs under the university are open to international students. Proudly speaking, we have credit-transfer program for international students in Architecture, landscape design and civil engineering. I am also aware that some of you want to pursue a degree in English. We are now working on that. It is possible it will be available for September intake. It will be in international trade and business or environment science and engineering. One thing worthy mentioning is we are the destiny university for many university to conduct a study-tour program in China. That’s to say each year they send their students to have class here for a certain period of time. Right now we have already sign agreement with a french univeristy, singapore university and Weichun martial art association.

The strength and feature for Zhejiang A and F univeristy is in entrepreneurship and ecological endeavor. We devoted to produce deligent, practical and capable students. In line with this guideline, IC commited to create more opportunities for international students to get more contact with society and to work part-time on campus. That’s why we are training a host of students to become possible English teachers. That’s why we hire some students to work for us part time . All in all, we hope when you finish your study here, in addtion to speaking Chinese like a native Chinese, you are also well-informed about Chinese business, Chinese soceity ,Chinese culture so that you can make your own business or help your fellow countrymen to do business with China.
