On Friday the 16thof April 2018 MYUN hosted a meeting to launch the organization to the student body. The meeting started at 5pm welcoming all students to attend. On this evening members of the MYUN chamber took time to explain in detail what MYUN is [it is a youth organization aiming protect the environment, create dialogue on peace and human aid ], its goals, its structures, the categories in which it works in as well as the pressing issues that the youth are dealing with in this day and age.
McCarthy Savanhu from Zimbabwe was the first speaker to give his speech introducing Modern Youth United Nations, he spoke about the mission of MYUN being to gather and unite youth and associations from around the world to support the development of their communities and to inspire their countries to actively pursue and teach environmental protection.
The second speaker was Olorato Mighty Kefitile from Botswana, Peace Ambassador Olorato spoke on peace. In her speech she spoke on how inner peace is the first step to attaining peace in our families, communities and the world at large. As youths we need to be the flag raisers of peace, now is the time to be makers of peace and harmony.
To speak on environment was Peace Ambassador Frank Silungwe from Zambia, he said that the environment that we live in needs to be protected and that the youth is capable of keeping their environment clean and safe.
The fourth speaker,Peace Ambassador Abel Chihambakwe from Zimbabwe gave his speech on Human aid, “the youth need to be active members in the community giving help to those that are in need, those old clothes that we no longer need can be donated, the food that is still edible can be given to friends that lack and whatever emotional support that can be provided to those around should be given for , He also added on saying he wishes to see the organization getting bigger and having more members from all nations and also said we can do something but not everything ”
